An agreement was made between myself and Optus, for a final payment. The payment is to cover the next month's bill, as I have to pay in advance.
The agreement was made, due to Optus creating bogus charges, fees and administration costs. They stopped sending the phone bill and charged me late fees for their continuous incompetence. Anyone can see that Optus only wants people's money, even when they're not owed.
I finished my contact with Optus in May. The new billing period started the day I stopped, so why would I pay for services from May to June 2012? The exact time frame that I was not with their company.
The Agreement:
Optus agreed not to add more charges or fees, as long as I paid what was owed. If any extras were charged to myself, the bill would be null and void - Optus takes full responsibility for paying the bill. It was their way of proving they weren't trying to steal more money from me.
I paid my final bill, but I refuse to pay for services in advance - when I am not with that company. My monthly bill was $65, Optus charged $75 and has been adding late fees, administration costs and so on. The bill was voided and in null by June 2012. I have been receiving threatening letters and have now received a letter from a collection agency.
I'm NOT stupid, I made that exact agreement for a reason and I have continued to notify Optus of it, frequently - so they cannot say they didn't know about it.
Life in General:
I am physically, mentally and emotionally affected by the continuous stress that Optus has given me since joining their service in 2010. In the last 12 months, I have paid them $1500+ - they were owed $780, the rest are charges and fees. In one bill, they asked for $2700 - from that day onwards, all contact was to be made through my mother. She knows how to run a large corporation, as she recently demoted herself to a position that gave less stress - another reason we originally moved from Sydney to Newcastle NSW.
The Proposal
Similar to the Verbal and Written Payment Agreement
If Optus continues the harassment and abuse, they will pay out financial compensation for the mental and emotional problems they've caused and will also pay financial compensation to others who's lives have been affected by the stress Optus has placed on myself and my family.
FINAL STATEMENT: Optus broke the agreement and took full responsibility for paying the bogus phone bill, it no longer has anything to do with me. I changed companies due to being ripped off - if someone up the street stole money from you, it's called theft. But when large corporations do it, it's called business.
I have nothing to do with Optus, their company or affiliates. I have nothing to do with their last charges, I paid my proper bill. I have no reason to be in contact with Optus and no reason for them to contact me. Any contact, including letters - will be classed as harassment and stalking. It will be taken as: harassment/stalking is abuse, victimizing people will only make them more determined to do something about the abuse.
DON'T be BULLIED by large corporations or businesses!
