Public Announcement: Australian Federal Election

Occasionally, I support certain campaigns - local, national and international.
On Saturday 7th September 2013, Australians will be entering the ballot booths to elect the next Prime Minister and party. Many agencies and organizations are campaigning against or for certain causes. Everyone can make a difference, here's how....

There are three ways you can make a difference in the next 24 hours:

1. Forward the below email to those you know. It includes everything voters need to know about Tony Abbott's plan to reset the clock on our rights at work.

2. Call 5 friends, workmates or family members who haven't made up their minds yet. Many people are still deciding who to vote for, so give some people you know a call and ask them to support a local candidate who will defend our rights at work.

3. Go and Vote. With an unprecedented number of seats coming down to the wire - your own vote has never mattered more.

The Australian Unions Campaign:

Dear friend,

There's a lot at risk for us this election, but with our nation's media and the parties' campaigns focused elsewhere, it's easy to miss.

Tony Abbott has already announced important rights for workers he will eliminate or scale back if elected, such as:

1. Threatening penalty rates and award conditions;

2. Reintroducing individual contracts that cut take-home pay;

3. Swinging more power back in favour of employers;

4. Decreasing the ability of unions to represent workers; and

5. Weakening the independent umpire.

And now with a very real risk that Tony Abbott and the Liberals will have total control in the Senate - he could go even further.

Click here to find out more about each of these five points, and share our handy infographic with your family and friends too so they know Abbott can't be trusted with their rights at work.

http://www.australianunions.org.au/5reasons

This election, we have a choice: a future where we value rights at work and invest in jobs; or a future dictated by the interests of big business.

It’s clear which side of that equation Tony Abbott falls down on. The policy he has committed to this election leave us in no doubt the Coalition is caving to the demands of big business. The five points listed above are just the beginning.

Professionalism in Affiliates and Companies

Whether it is a new/small business starting out or an established business with many years of experience, a certain type of etiquette is expected.

Companies convey themselves through their service and general overview, including society's own views and opinions. They take pride in themselves and their company, they strive to make themselves better than others - providing the best service possible. They spend a lot of money on services for various parts of their own businesses, such as: advertising their business, advertising for staff and clients, advertising for their own business support, advertising their businesses' service and overview.

But what exactly is expected?

Most companies have programs for various parts of their business: a program for staff, a program for their customers/clients and depending on what their business does, they also have a program for employers. Eg. Castle Personnel is an employment agency. Not only do they provide an employment service for the unemployed, they also work on behalf of other companies and government services. What a lot of people do not know, is that they are also a business who helps the disabled with various support services.

What does society expect?

We expect to be provided with nothing but the best of everything.

Diversity - There are many services which are available for all types of people with different nationalities. But when it comes to certain businesses, there are some minorities which don't use these services because they worry that their cultural background or their lifestyle may affect the outcome. Eg. The Hilton Hotel - being one of the largest chains in the world, I wouldn't stay there because I know that I can't afford it. Whereas, my father wouldn't stay there because he would feel that his colour would be a problem - getting/receiving any services etc. The father of my child wouldn't stay there, because he would feel like everyone would be looking down on him and making him feel uncomfortable. This can happen to many people and many businesses, which can be a massive loss for many. How? If certain businesses knew that some people felt like this, they would find a way of making it work for both sides. If the everyday person knew that they would be welcomed by certain we businesses, their anxieties would disappeared and both sides wouldn't miss out.

Services and Support - No matter what it is, every service should have support for themselves and their clients/customers. Some people don't ask if there's any support, as they were never informed about it and do not know that it is available. This is also where diversity can become a worry due to the client's own anxiety.

• Business

Society expects staff to be courteous of their client's needs, ensuring the right ethics are placed - depending on the service or support. They expect a company to be professional in every part of their business and the service(s) they provide.

What does society class as business professionalism?

Advertising plays a big role in the media industry and within society. This is how a company displays a part of their professionalism, providing as much information as possible and within a short amount of time. With the internet being one of the main forms of everything, it is also one of the best places to advertise and provide services.

When an individual views a business website, they expect to be amazed immediately with eye catching words and images - something that can grab their attention fast. With personal websites, anything and everything can happen - no one is ever surprised by what they may see next, they change so often. Personal websites also provide their own service - they provide space on their website for companies wanting to advertise their business. A lot of these services are known as 'Affiliates'. There are many businesses who provide a service to many companies looking to advertise wither other business and personal websites.

The worst or most embarrassing thing for a company or business:

There are many things which could change the outcome of a company or how they conduct theirselves and their business. When I look at any advertising, the first thing I notice is spelling mistakes and errors. A business shows their professionalism through their knowledge, which also includes basic reading and writing skills.

As I have mentioned on many occasions, I am currently building the main website for my personal website 'Missxstatic'. Currently in place, is a basic website of only a few pages. It provides basic information of what I am currently doing and interests. There were a lot of blank spaces on the basic site, which has been filled in by advertisements. The new website doesn't have as many advertisements and are neatly placed within the pages, unlike the basic website. I have a lot of blog sites and for various reasons which don't need mentioning (I hardly use them anyway), but I only use 2 blogs which are connected to the main website. The blog link on the main website is to 'The Missxstatic Blog'. All of the pages either link to it's own blog or the main website, while there is 1 link on there which links to The Blog of Missxstatic - which is a blog of various reviews and complaints in life. As a new affiliate and publisher, I have noticed many things about advertising and the companies who need it. There are many businesses who'll approve the application immediately, while there are many which are pending approval. Most that are pending approval, are usually waiting for you to change something on your website which suits them. When or if it doesn't happen, it is either declined or stays pending. From the couple of businesses that declined my application, I was glad that 1 of them had declined my offer - in their message, I received a reason why I was declined. They replied "not appripriate". As you may notice, my spelling is quite good for Australian and New Zealand standards - as the spelling is different in other countries. And who's iPhone hasn't changed their text? Mine changes it often. I find their response to be unprofessional of a business and am glad not to be associated to the embarrassment. I'm not sure if the errors appear in their advertisements or website, but I have already experienced the undertow that most customers never see.

So, a word to the wise... Professionalism exists in EVERY part of the business world, let it exist within your own.

These sales are on right now and are only for a limited time, check it out now before the savings and discounts disappear...

Nescafé

If your anything like myself, you've spent a lot of money on coffee and have received nothing in return - besides an addiction or health problems. Nescafé is one of the biggest brands in Australia, with a rewards program. Each medium to large sized jars of coffee would have coffee bean codes, which you'd enter onto their website and build for prizes. The amount of money that my family and I have spent, there's not enough beans to be able to get any reward.

I received an email stating Nescafé Cup of Rewards is closing down, redeem your beans and collect your rewards today. Again, they do not give enough beans for me to be able to redeem it. If this is what it's like for myself, then it's probably the same for most other people. When things like this happen, it can change the course of events - losing many customers, due to some people feeling abandoned and robbed.

Too often, companies use and abuse lower to middle class families as guinea pigs - studying what adverse effects could come of trialling something. Some seem to push society that far, their companies close down when the economy struggles.

So, if you are anything like myself - you have spent a lot of money on coffee and have gotten nothing in return for being a loyal customer, even when there's so-called rewards. It feels like they got as much money out of me, as they could and the moment I was close to getting something in return - it's taken away. This happens too often and it's becoming quite annoying. It seems to be quite convenient that this has occurred at a time which is most profitable for Nescafé.

The WARNING has been Issued

We have just received the phone call and was told about the news - a tsunami warning has just been issued. Until I hear the warning alarm, I'm not going anywhere. I have volunteer duties to attend to and the children still need their food.

My family and I reside less than 100 meters from the sea. Where we live, is a high risk area for floods. In the 1900's, Newcastle suffered many natural disasters such as: earthquakes, floods and high-speed winds. The highest ground is inland and/or closer to Sydney, which is approximately 3 hours from Newcastle.

If a tsunami was to hit Newcastle, it would travel quite a distance inland. Nothing has changed and no emergencies are in place. We haven't planned an evacuation and we aren't prepared for one. But as always, we know what we'd have to grab if we had to evacuate. Besides passports, birth certificates, family photos and such, we have always prepared ourselves for any disaster - we know what we need and what to take if we are evacuated.

I will keep updating as often as possible, to let everyone know what is happening and that we are all safe. In the meantime, majority of my posts can be found on Facebook and Twitter - these are the two websites I use, which are always updated in real-time and is more current.

My Thanks

Over the past month, summer has hit New South Wales with a scorcher. Our hottest day reached over 40°c and our air conditioners struggled with each rise in the temperature.
For the past couple of months, I have had a mad craving for DARE Iced Coffee - Espresso. During the heat wave, my cravings became worse and I had to have that coffee fix. One day, I decided to go to Coles supermarket to buy my favourite iced coffee - it was out of stock. I drove through 5 towns to get to the next Coles, where I ended up buying six 2 litre bottles. Placing them inside of my fridge bag, I travelled home and immediately placed them in the refrigerator. Three days later, my coffee started smelling and tasting weird - I kept drinking it, even after many hours of throwing up and being sick. I thought that the weather was affecting me, so my mum decided to try some of my coffee. "This is out of date, it has expired". I checked the date on the bottle, it said 17/01/2013. I then checked my iPhone 4s for the day's date, it was 13/01/2013. I found the receipt which was dated 04/01/2013 and contacted Coles.
I received a reply via email, within 24 - 48 hours. I also received a phone call, from an apologetic manager. I returned the two remaining bottles of Iced Coffee and received a refund for them. My mum had thrown away two other bottles, so I wasn't able to get a refund on those... obviously.
Today is exactly one month since I made the purchase, when I received a letter in the mail. I have attached it to this blog and a link to the photo, in case it didn't appear. The letter explained some of their procedures and where they think the problem may lay. Also in the letter, was a $10 gift card - given as a gesture of good will and as an apology for the incident.
I don't blame Coles for what happened. I understand that dairy products can only last so long and must be refrigerated as soon as possible. Being summer and during a time of the heat wave, I took the incident as: 'food that spoiled due to natural occurrences, which cannot always be stopped'.
I 'Thank' Coles for the duty of care that they have given me, as a customer. And I thank them for making me feel valued, as a customer. Thank you for the card, it will be put to good use - two 2 litre bottles of DARE Iced Coffee Espresso.

NSW Crime Statistics

Nothing ever seems to change. It doesn't matter what profession you may have or may not have, not everything is better. It doesn't matter if you have always done the right thing or being cautious and criminal-free, anyone can be the target of a criminal act.

Each year, the Crime and Justice Bureau conduct statistics on how society feels about crime. There are different types of reports. 1. People are asked 5 questions and the statistics are calculated from there. 2. People are asked 10 questions and then calculated. This is the latest and most up-to-date report: BOCSAR Public confidence in the New South Wales criminal justice system: 2012 update.

It is more surprising to see that there was not much of an increase to the statistics when it comes to leniency. Between 12 - 15% rise compared to previous years. Most of the reports were studied from 2007 - 2012 and the statistics were based from that, after many calculations.

I have said it on many occasions and I will mention it again "society needs to take a stand, to raise more awareness of crime and how we feel as a community". No one should ever feel vulnerable or scared, especially in their own homes.

Is It Safe?

As children, our parents always worried about us and our safety. Now, as parents, we often worry about our children and their safety. We can only be in so many places at once, it becomes harder with each worry!

In recent weeks, there have been many reports of male adults approaching children in the streets. Some of these men were apprehended by the NSW Police.

Before the school holidays began, some of the parents who's children attend the local primary school, notified each other of the latest attack. Although none of the children were physically harmed, it can affect them emotionally and mentally.

It first began with an attempted abduction of a young male child, the police are still searching for a suspect. The next attempt was a week later - on a young female child, a suspect was apprehended. Not far from the primary school (in the local park), a male was chased by other make adults - after exposing himself to a young male child. Heading closer to the school (under a nearby bridge - meters from the school), a male adult was apprehended by police - after exposing and touching himself in front of a small group of young children. One of the older children raised the alarm to a parent who was walking nearby. The final attempts was when an unknown male adult followed a 10 year old female, from the local shops to nearby her home. A similar incident happened to a male child, of around the same age - the search for a suspect continues....

With the school holidays coming to an end and a new generation of school children arrive, safety is the key. There are so many sick people in the world, society begins to wonder "what next?" and "is it safe?" for our children.

Official Statement

As things are becoming worse, I began writing this statement and finalized it just after midnight on 30th December 2012, but wasn’t able to upload it on the same date. I have always made the following statements and from the moment I met my child’s father.

This has and always will be the way with him and anyone associated with or to him. He has a habit of breaking, selling and trading my personal belongings, I have NEVER given him permission to do so and anyone who has ever met me, knows that I would NEVER leave my belongings with Kyle unless he physically threw me out - it is the only way that he can get anything from us. He has stolen money from my bank account and the law has let him get away with it too often. Nothing is ever replaced and he seems to be allowed to steal from my family and I, and is allowed to ruin our lives.

Since we don’t have the proper back up, this is the next best thing: a statement explaining that it is the truth and nothing but the truth. NOTHING will change how I feel, I do NOT give permission to be abused and robbed.

This is an official statement created for myself, by myself. I am posting this to inform others of my feelings upon this. This also covers my child, as she is underage.

A punch, slap or kick ISN’T the only form of physical assault. If it leaves a mark or causes pain and it wasn’t followed by a “sorry”, then it definitely is intentional.

I, Celia Morgan, do NOT GIVE permission for any person(s) to emotionally, financially, mentally and/or physically harm me or my belongings in ANY way. I do NOT GIVE permission for my belongings to be broken, sold or traded in any way. No matter what threats or method of torture is used on or against me, I still do NOT GIVE permission for anyone to do such things. ANY and ALL false or misleading information about me, will be taken as intimidation or defamation of character. This also includes any statements upon my being, whether physically, mentally or emotionally - made judiciary or not. ALL claims MUST have sufficient evidence which proves otherwise, or it may lead to legal action being taken.

I declare that all statements made in this post are true and correct;
And I make this solemn statement conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Oaths Act 1900.
